After a few decades working in Riverland wineries, Chris Grigoriou started Portia Valley Wines along with his wife, Teresa. Chris\u2019 passion was always to establish a wine company to continue both his father\u2019s and grandfather\u2019s family legacy by making premium quality wines for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>

We bring together centuries of winemaking experience and family tradition at Portia Valley Wines. Our tradition, viticulture skills and processes originated from the Peloponnese wine region of Sparta, where Chris\u2019 grandfather taught his family how to grow and maintain grapes.<\/p>

Chris\u2019 father owned and operated a winery in Monash, which is where Chris spent his formative years learning the wine business. The skills and passion he accrued from his grandfather and father continue to run down the family line to bring a taste of tradition that tells the family story.<\/p>

Portia Valley Wines is a combination of Chris\u2019 mother\u2019s name, Portia, and the location of the first vineyard where she spent long days working at the top of Monash Valley \u2014 which overlooked the region and township.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChris is responsible for the overall activities, profitability, and direction of the business. He has worked in the wine industry for more than 40 years, and was appointed General Manager of the family winery in 1987 after studying accountancy. Prior to this position, he wore the title of Administration Manager.<\/p>\r\n\r\nHe then joined a Monash winery as General Manager from 1987 to 2001, before moving on to a Loxton-based Winery in the same position until 2013. Back in 1992, he and his wife Teresa purchased their first 25-acre vineyard which has since expanded to five vineyards\u2014totalling over 100 acres of organic vineyards, with an annual crush of over 1,500 tonnes of organic grapes. In 2014, he founded a Barossa based bottling company which he sold in 2016. He\u2019s since founded a much larger and more efficient bottling company call South Australian Wine Bottlers (SAWB), which is located on Port Road, Beverly.
