The story behind the name
Vineyard 1913 is nestled at the top of the Monash Valley, the section number 1913 dates back to the early 1900’s when the land was subdivided and allocated to return soldiers from WW1. The
vineyard is a family owned wine business, and a four generation viticulturist and wine producer. The Riverland region of South Australia enjoys a climate with low rain fall, mild winters, dry
summers and low humidity. Sandy loam rich and fertile soils make this a perfect climate and region for growing grapes.
A bright, fruity and easy drinking wine, the nose opens up with herbaceous aromas of freshly cut grass. The palate showcases fresh tropical fruits and a lovely bright acidity, making this wine a
perfect aperitif style drink.
The grapes are sourced from multiple vineyards throughout the Riverland to ensure depth and complexity. After being harvested in the cool of the night, the parcels were pressed, clarified and
blended to create a wine displaying vibrant fruit flavour and intensity that is both lifted and zesty with persistent, long finish.
The cold grapes were crushed into the press and skin contacted for a carefully monitored period to ensure extraction of delicate flavours without imparting harshness to the pure juice. The must was lightly pressed. Cold settling followed immediately at ultra low temperatures. The free run was kept separate to ensure that only the finest juice was used to ensure a wine of premium quality. This juice was then very slowly fermented using selected yeast strains to enhance the natural fruit aromas of the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grape. The ferment took 4 weeks to complete in temperature-controlled vessels. Subsequent monitoring and tasting of the individual component wines was conducted to create a delicate, crisp and refreshing style of wine showing elegance, finesse and concentration.
