Our History
After a few decades working in Riverland wineries, Chris Grigoriou started Portia Valley Wines along with his wife, Teresa. Chris’ passion was always to establish a wine company to continue both his father’s and grandfather’s family legacy by making premium quality wines for everyone to enjoy.
We bring together centuries of winemaking experience and family tradition at Portia Valley Wines. Our tradition, viticulture skills and processes originated from the Peloponnese wine region of Sparta, where Chris’ grandfather taught his family how to grow and maintain grapes.
Chris’ father owned and operated a winery in Monash, which is where Chris spent his formative years learning the wine business. The skills and passion he accrued from his grandfather and father continue to run down the family line to bring a taste of tradition that tells the family story.
Portia Valley Wines is a combination of Chris’ mother’s name, Portia, and the location of the first vineyard where she spent long days working at the top of Monash Valley — which overlooked the region and township.

Tradition

From Vine to Glass
From vine to glass, our holistic process encompasses every stage from harvest, right through to bottling and export.
Harvest
Our Grapes are carefully picked and selected to maximise quality and flavour.
Crushed
Fruit is transported to our contracted Barossa Facility to be crushed.
Ferment
Our dedicated head winemaker oversees the transformation of grape juice into its alcoholic state.
Bottle
Wine is then bottled in our state of the art bottling facility for quality control.
Ship
Wine is freighted globally by our experienced export br>and logistics team.
